Pokémon 30th Celebration Buying Guide (2026)

What's out, what's still coming, what each 30th Celebration box contains and the cards collectors chase. Checked against official sources on 21 Oct 2026.

The anniversary line started quietly with the Pokémon Day 2026 Collection in January and peaked with the 30th Celebration expansion on 16 September. Most of the product is now on shelves; a final wave lands in November. This guide sorts what is out from what is still coming, explains what each box really gives you, and shows the cards that are driving demand.

Status checked 21 October 2026. Dates are from The Pokémon Company's UK and US announcements, linked at the end. Where Europe has only a month, we show only a month.

The line-up in order

Two dates in the old version of this guide were wrong and are corrected here: the Pokémon Day Collection launched on 30 January, not on Pokémon Day itself (27 February), and First Partner Series 1 arrived on 20 March.

What is actually in a 30th Celebration pack

Every regular pack holds five foil cards, one of which is always one of the 30 Pikachu Rares, plus a foil Basic Energy. There is no English booster display: The Pokémon Company states that the packs are sold only inside products such as the ones in the table above. If a shop lists a "30th Celebration booster box", ask what is inside before you pay.

The card database at TCGdex lists 128 cards in the main numbering and 30 above it:

  • Pikachu Rares 023–052 — thirty Pikachu by thirty artists, from Ken Sugimori (023) to Atsuko Nishida (047). The slot is guaranteed, but no official source says the thirty are equally common, so thirty packs will not necessarily give you thirty different Pikachu.
  • 18 Illustration Rares (129–146), including the Kanto birds by mashu and OKUBO's three Meowth.
  • 10 Special Illustration Rares (147–156), led by two Pikachu ex by kantaro that form a day-and-night pair.
  • 2 Futuristic Rares (157–158) — Mewtwo ex and Mew ex by YOSHIROTTEN, the new rarity introduced for this set.

The Classic Collection — 30 reprints of cards from the game's history, including Charizard, Lugia and Magikarp — is part of the expansion. Official English product copy confirms a dedicated three-card Classic Collection pack only in the Ultra-Premium Collection and does not say how Classic cards appear in regular packs, so we do not quote odds for them.

The cards collectors are chasing

  • Mew ex · 152/128 · Special Illustration Rare · illustrated by Kuroimori
  • Gengar ex · 154/128 · Special Illustration Rare · CHORISO
  • Pikachu ex · 149/128 and 150/128 · Special Illustration Rare · kantaro — a day-and-night pair
  • Mewtwo ex · 151/128 · Special Illustration Rare · Yano Keiji
  • Mew ex · 158/128 and Mewtwo ex · 157/128 · Futuristic Rare · YOSHIROTTEN

On 21 October 2026 the Cardmarket trend prices reported through TCGdex put the Mew ex Special Illustration Rare first, followed by Gengar ex, the two Pikachu ex and Mewtwo ex, with the Futuristic Rare Mew ex just behind. Two things in that data are worth knowing before you open anything:

  • The guaranteed Pikachu is not where the value sits. Individual Pikachu Rares were trending between roughly €0.50 and €1.40.
  • Prices have been cooling since launch. For every card above, the current trend sits well below its 30-day average — the normal pattern after a big release, described in what a new set does to prices. That is a description of the last month, not a forecast.

If one of these cards is the reason you are buying, compare the single with the number of packs you were planning to open. What is a chase card? explains why demand, not printed rarity, drives this list.

Which product for which goal

  • To open the most packs for the money: the Booster Bundle (six packs, no extras) is the simplest pack-only option. Work out the price per pack against the ETB at the shops you actually use.
  • For a complete box with accessories: the Elite Trainer Box has nine packs, a full-art Nidorina promo, 65 sleeves and 16 foil Energy. The Pokémon Center version adds two packs and a second Nidorina promo with the Pokémon Center logo; it is a separate exclusive product, so treat its availability separately.
  • For a specific promo: the Pokémon ex Box (Sylveon ex or Greninja ex, with an oversize card and four packs), the Poster Collection (foil Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres promos, three packs) or the Battle Decks, which include an illustration-rare-style Victini (Espeon ex deck) or Zeraora (Umbreon ex deck).
  • Small and display-friendly: the Knock Out Collection and the 2-Pack Blister each pair a foil Eevee card and a plastic coin with two packs. The ten Mini Tins each hold two packs, a sticker sheet and an art card; together the lids form a day image and a night image.
  • The flagship: the Ultra-Premium Collection — Day & Night holds 29 packs plus the Classic Collection pack, with Pikachu ex and Espeon ex or Pikachu ex and Umbreon ex promos. It is the only product officially confirmed to contain that Classic pack.

The First Partner Illustration Collections

Each series covers three regions: Series 1 Kanto, Sinnoh and Alola; Series 2 Johto, Unova and Galar; Series 3 Hoenn, Kalos and Paldea. Every box contains a special pack with three of that series' nine promo cards, two booster packs and a sticker sheet. One box therefore cannot complete a series — for all 27 first partners you need either a lot of boxes or the singles you are missing. The promos are shown card by card on the Series 3 product page.

Buying from Europe now

  • Compare the same edition. A German, French or Japanese 30th product is a different item from the English one, with different card numbers and prices.
  • Check the native price. Czech shops quote CZK, Polish shops PLN, most others EUR. A converted figure is for comparison; the shop's price is what you pay.
  • Pre-orders for November: read the shop's payment and cancellation terms. A pre-order is a promise of an allocation, not a delivery date.
  • For the products still to come, the 30th Anniversary section on the homepage lists every product with its current status and the shops we monitor.
